Forensic Nursing Specialist, International Association of Forensic Nurses

Tammy Scarlett (MPH, BSN, RN, SANE-A, SANE-P) serves as a Forensic Nursing Specialist at the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN), where she provides training and technical assistance to forensic nurses and allied professionals in the field. Tammy has been working as a registered nurse since 2010 and received her Master's Degree in Public Health with a concentration in Global Health in 2020. She initially received a position as a forensic nurse in Newport News, Virginia, providing care to patients in an on-call capacity while working in the Emergency Department. In 2016, Tammy began working as a full-time forensic nurse in Colorado Springs, Colorado. A few years later, she served as a Principal Investigator on two research projects involving non-fatal strangulation and HIV nPEP adherence and barriers. 

Tammy currently holds her certification in Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Adult/Adolescent (SANE-A) and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Pediatric (SANE-P). She has provided training for the Colorado SANE/SAFE Project and Indian Health Services skills labs. She is a member of IAFN, as well as the Colorado chapter. Tammy continues to practice clinically, providing care to patients and precepting forensic nurses to better care for our patient populations.
